Please meet SHADY NOOK’S LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE.   Annie was whelped on July 5, 2017.  She was the only puppy in her litter, whelped via C-section, because she was so large.  As soon as we got her home after the C-section, we knew immediately that she had severe problems, and rushed her back to our vet.  She refused to nurse from her momma and wasn’t having bowel movements.  Our vet initially said that she may not survive, but we might save her if we bottle fed her every 2 hours, followed by a warm-water enema after each feeding.  We decided that, if we worked in shifts, we could do what was needed to save her --- even though we were in the process of moving to a new home at the time.  Annie got very weak the first few days, due to not knowing how to nurse, but we were very patient and she finally learned how to take nourishment from the bottle.  On July 8, we moved into our new home, with Annie being the most important cargo.  For the next 3 weeks, we followed our vet’s instructions; feeding followed by an enema, every 2 hours – the entire process would take approximately 45 minutes. Slowly, Annie learned to nurse, and pooping became easier. With the attention to Annie, as well as unpacking and getting settled, there was not much sleep to be had.  Eventually, we started weaning her, and she finally was able to eat the same as our other Scotties.  As you can see in her pictures, Annie has turned out to be a beautiful Scottie.  She is quite the character, and can run in the yard for hours – her energy is boundless.  She has matured into a beautiful girl, and we think she will make a great momma when the time comes.  She spends lots of time with our other Scotties (including her momma). Annie’s sire is Hitman, who was imported from South America; her dam is Rozee, who was imported from the Czech Republic.
